Twitter

Our week working with a different social network then most of us are used to was a new experience.  We worked with Twitter for a week, and I am not as addicted to it right now as I am to facebook on most days.  At first, I really didn't like Twitter at all, but now it isn't as bad since I know more about where to find things and how to talk to others over Twitter.

It is amazing how many different types of social networks there are out there.  I didn't realize until Debra pulled it up on the internet that there were so many to choose from.  I think its crazy that there are social networks for different hobbies people have.  I think it is a cool idea because then everyone is talking about a similar topic that they share interest in but it is something you have to almost be specific in looking for then.

I like how on Twitter that you can follow different groups and papers that you might not normally know what is going on with them.  It is interesting to get little blurbs from different papers and groups that have short advice for the day that you wouldn't get on a social network like facebook.  I probably would not use Twitter when looking for work or prospective schools though.  These are some reasons I like and don't like Twitter.

I think that it is ok to choose one or maybe two social networks to be a part of, but much more then that and it almost gets overwhelming trying to remember to keep up with all of the things.  It is getting easier for us though with the creation of mobile versions of the main social networks.  People are able to access their accounts from anywhere.  Even with this easy accessability I don't think I will ever want to be a part of more than one or two social networks to stay in touch with friends.
